Job Description

The Human Resources (HR) Intern is responsible for assisting the HR Department with EYF and Emerald Charter Schools (ECS) day-to-day HR operations, including but not limited to recruiting top talent, scheduling interviews, conducting phone screens, hosting panel interviews, completing background checks, and issuing new hire packets for volunteers, AmeriCorps members, and employees.

EFFECTIVE:January 2023

STATUS:Non-exempt, Part-time

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Collaborate with HR on creative recruitment strategies. Attend recruitment events and assist with recruitment efforts as needed.
  • Coordinate and schedule interviews for candidates and hiring managers as requested. 
  • Conduct phone screens with candidates.
  • Complete thorough background and reference checks on selected candidates handling all sensitive material confidentially.
  • Send new hire packets via BambooHR to selected AmeriCorps members and incoming employees. Send rejection emails to candidates via the HRIS as positions are filled.
  • Complete onboarding meetings with part-time employees.
  • Assist HR team with applicable staff, AmeriCorps, and volunteer events and projects.
  • Assist Training Specialist with HR-relevant tasks (e.g., monthly staff certification checks, certificate prep).
  • Manage additional HR projects and tasks as assigned (e.g., HRIS maintenance and AmeriCorps enrollment/exits/compliance).

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Dedicated Christian with clear knowledge of the Gospel and a passion for the mission of Emerald Youth Foundation; connected to a church community; possesses a strong reputation for honesty, integrity, and high moral standards
  • Prior HR experience or actively working on an HR degree, strongly preferred.
  • Prioritizes tasks and works well under pressure.  This person must operate with a sense of urgency.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated skill in the areas of organization and communication.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a collaborative setting.
  • Eager to learn.
