Job Description
Young-Williams Animal Center (YWAC) is looking for a positive, motivated and dedicated individual to be our Development Manager. This role will report to the Director of Development and work closely to implement and manage development strategies across all lines of giving. This role will focus primarily on data management, gift processing and acknowledgement letters utilizing donor databases such as Raisers Edge NXT, Shelter Luv, and Clinic HQ. The Development Manager will be responsible for the day-to day activates in support of YWAC development programs. This includes events, third party fundraisers, direct mail, grant application, reporting and other elements designed to enhance positive relations with all donors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process donations and prepares acknowledgement letters and other correspondence
  • Manages donor database integrity and donor relations strategy utilizing Raisers Edge NXT, and incorporating other operational data bases as needed. Requires data input, updating, and merging records 
  • Manages grant writing and grant reporting processes in collaboration with program, finance and development staff  
  • Creates monthly fundraising reports and other data base reports as needed
  • Conducts preliminary research on prospective corporate, foundation, and individual donors including grant funding research 
  • Assists in planning, processing and execution of development events as well as online and third party fundraisers
  • Manages some social media campaigns, online wish lists, some website updating, email blasts and other special marketing needs related to development as assigned
  • Performs daily customer service tasks such as answering phone, responding to email questions, attending meetings, check presentations etc.
  • Presents presentations, performs public speaking engagements for both live and recorded media as well as special events
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned




Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience with donor databases and other CRM systems. Raiser’s Edge preferred.
  • Experience with gift processing in a nonprofit environment 
  • Administrative and computer skills
  • Fundraising experience of at least 3 years in both major gifts and event coordination  
  • Grant writing experience with proven success in receiving and reporting on major grants to both corporations and foundations
  • Excellent customer service with both face-to-face and phone interactions 
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills
  • Self-motivated team player who thrives working independently and collaboratively
  • Dedication, flexibility, attention to detail and creativity a must


Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in fundraising field 
  • 3+ years fundraising experience 
  • A love for animals, or mission and vision
