A. G. Heins Company to donate a portion of the proceeds from their sales to the Emerald Youth Foundation to celebrate 100th Anniversary in 2020
For 100 years A. G. Heins Company has sold building supplies in Knoxville, Tennessee. On December 14, 2019 they kicked off a year long celebration of their 100th Anniversary as a continuously family owned business. A. G. Heins Company has helped people build their homes and their businesses for a century. The company specializes in masonry, roofing, concrete, plaster, chemicals and accessories. They inventory over 3,000 products from nationally recognized vendors such as BASF, Cemex, Dupont, Quikrete, Sika, SpecChem, and W. R. Meadows. They won a national award as one of Dupont's Top 25 Inner Circle Partners. Contractors depend on the quality products from A. G. Heins Company to make their project a success. Some of the local projects they have partnered on include: UT's Haslam Music Building, UT's Ayres Hall, Neyland Stadium renovations, Knoxville Montessori School, Embassy Suites and The Island in Pigeon Forge. The general public can also purchase building materials for their do-it-yourself designs. The local business was founded by Albert Gordon Heins, Sr. on December 14, 1920. The original office was located in the historic McClung Warehouses on Jackson Avenue and had five employees. In 1925, a larger office and warehouse was constructed at 116 Heins Street in the heart of downtown Knoxville where it continues to operate today. After serving in the Army during World War II, A. G Heins, Jr. entered the family business in 1949 and became President in 1971. His son, A. Gordon Heins III, joined the company in 1981 and was promoted to President in 1991. The three children of Heins III serve on the management team which continues the legacy of the fourth generation family owned business. In 1994, A. G. Heins Company expanded its operations into Blountville, Tennessee to provide better service to customers in East Tennessee and Virginia. During the year long 100th Anniversary celebration in 2020, A.
