Join the Chamber for our FIRST 2020 Breakfast Speaker Series event and get motivated in the new year! On the heels of an exciting NCAA football playoff season, VOL For Life (VFL) Derrick Furlow will provide stories and insight into the key takeaways from his career in NCAA Football which led him to create "The Champion's Cheat Code: for Sports, Life & Business."
Millions of people across the country who have NEVER played sports of any kind find themselves in a transition of some kind everyday, whether it’s growing their business, corporate downsizing, divorce, early retirement, marriage and so on. How do you effectively navigate these challenges?
The Champion's Cheat Code is a unique approach & group of traits displayed daily in sports, especially at the elite levels. These traits have been demonstrated and found true for every team that has won championships or those that compete on a championship level. AND these traits can be applied outside of sports. Understood and applied correctly, “The Champion's Cheat Code” will allow you to dominate your life and business as well.
Speaker Bio: Derrick was just another kid who wanted a better life and saw sports--football in particular--as a vehicle that could provide it.
During his football journey which brought him to The University of Tennessee, where he would play for the VOLS (2005-2009), Derrick simultaneously played football and completed both his bachelors and masters degrees in just 4 years.
The adversity he endured in his playing career and the challenges he faced shifted his perspectives; making him realize football was just a temporary staging ground for his permanent purpose. Today he shares his story and the principals he learned from sports in order to Impact, Inspire & Empower others, while putting them in position to transition.
