The chamber's Speaker Series events provide an opportunity for businesses and the public to hear from speakers on specific topics or issues that are of importance to them, their business, and our community. Members receive discounted pricing as a benefit of membership. Attendees from the community are always welcome.
History Beneath Our Feet: Discover the lives behind the landmarks
Due to repeated requests to replicate our unique program focused around Historic Concord, the chamber is proud to offer this fascinating event that will take you beyond the few names you may know that are associated with Farragut (we won't be able to NOT mention the Admiral, but there are more folks to introduce you to) and will offer the option to walk you through a piece of 18th century history right here in our backyard.
The program will take place at the newly renovated Town of Farragut Boardroom, and include breakfast, a museum tour, another guided stop or two, and will culminate in an OPTIONAL immersive guided tour of the historic Pleasant Forest Cemetery, est. 1796 (complete with luxury coach shuttle from Town Hall to the cemetery and back). The program will quickly pass hands between speakers including local historian Frank Galbraith, Farragut Museum staff/docents, and Pleasant Forest Cemetery board chair, David Stinton, all of them revealing the people who called the area home and left their landmark on the soil and streets.
Coffee and light breakfast refreshments will be available while attendees arrive and network starting at 7:30am; program starts at 8:00am. Tour starts by 9:00am, weather permitting.
