Name: Learn Pysanky, the Art of Ukrainian Egg Dyeing
Date: January 16, 2018
Time: 6:15 PM - 8:15 PM EST
Event Description:
Create intricately-patterned Ukrainian eggs using this age-old batik (wax-resist) dye process. The eggs are beautiful collector pieces for displaying and gifting. You’ll complete 2-3 eggs, learning the process from blowing/prepping eggshells to epoxying/varnishing the finished piece. Instructor Jordan Byrd is one of a few artists in the U.S. who teaches traditional egg dyeing known as Pysanky. Using traditional tools and both modern and classical designs, Jordan helps introduce new students to this ancient art form. Course is Tuesdays, Jan. 16-Feb. 6 at Pellissippi State's Hardin Valley Campus. $79 + $55 materials fee payable to instructor.
