Event Description:
The Town of Farragut will welcome eight sailors from the United States Navy destroyer, USS Farragut, July 2-8, 2024.  The sailors are visiting as part of a Navy initiative, Namesake Visits. 
 
A community picnic is planned for Wednesday, July 3rd from 12:30 – 1:30 at Founders Park in Farragut.  The public is invited to attend, but bring your own lunch.  This is an opportunity to welcome the sailors to town, show appreciation, learn about their duties, and ask any questions.
 
This namesake visit is designed for sailors to learn more about the history of The Town of Farragut and the history of Admiral David Glasglow Farragut.  The sailors will share their Navy stories and build relationships with the people and places the warship is named after. The USS Farragut is based in Jacksonville, FL.
