Job Description
Green Meadows Partners is seeking an experienced Payroll Tax Manager to support a growing organization within the PEO industry. This role oversees federal, state, and local payroll tax compliance while leading a team responsible for accurate, timely tax operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly analytical, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and regulatory compliance are paramount.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare or review a variety of payroll tax documents, ensuring accuracy and adherence to all regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform complex tax reconciliations and determine tax liabilities across accounts, divisions, or business units.
  • Assist in the preparation, distribution, and filing of tax forms.
  • Research and resolve discrepancies, answering tax-related questions from internal teams and clients.
  • Interpret existing and updated tax codes, laws, and regulations, and recommend process changes as needed.
  • Update internal procedures to reflect regulatory changes and communicate updates to leadership.
  • Resolve escalated issues and provide expert-level support to internal departments and clients.
  • Lead and mentor the Payroll Tax Team, providing guidance on workflow, priorities, and best practices.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong understanding of federal, multi-state, and local payroll tax regulations.
  • Ability to analyze complex regulatory documents and interpret tax laws.
  • Skilled at reviewing and interpreting large volumes of data to ensure tax accuracy.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong customer service focus; able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience supervising complex projects.
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of payroll tax experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year in a Senior, Lead, or Supervisor payroll tax role required.
  • Experience in a multi-state tax environment preferred.
  • Experience within the PEO industry strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on tax return processing experience required.
  • Knowledge of multi-state payroll and wage laws (federal, state, local).
  • MasterTax and Prism/HRP experience preferred.
  • CPP or FPC certification preferred.
Work Location
This position is 100% in-office in Oak Ridge, TN. Candidates must be able to reliably commute.
Salary: $80,000 – $100,000 per year
