Childhelp TN, a leading non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention and treatment of child abuse, brought warmth and joy to 140 families across Knoxville and the surrounding 16 counties through its Thanksgiving Basket Brigade event on Sunday, November 17, 2023.

This heartwarming initiative provided families in need with complete Thanksgiving dinners, ensuring that they can enjoy a festive and nourishing meal during the holiday season. The event kicked off at 1:00 pm at the Childhelp Children's Advocacy Center (CAC), where 100 dedicated volunteers gathered to load up their cars with specially curated Thanksgiving baskets.
Each Thanksgiving basket includes an array of essential items to create a traditional Thanksgiving feast. Childhelp is grateful for the support of Food City, BCI Packaging, and Blue Bell, which is contributing freezers for the turkeys. The collaborative efforts of these community-minded businesses will undoubtedly make a significant impact on the success of the event.
Volunteers from Truist, ORNL staff, UTK, Kappa Delta Alumnae, and Childhelp ChildHelpers played a crucial role in organizing and loading the cars. Their dedication and enthusiasm embody the spirit of giving back to the community, making this Thanksgiving Basket Brigade a true community effort.
"We are thrilled to join hands with our volunteers and community partners to bring the joy of Thanksgiving to families who may be facing challenges. Childhelp is committed to creating a positive impact in the lives of children and families, and events like the Thanksgiving Basket Brigade allow us to make a meaningful difference," said Ken Bender, Executive Director at Childhelp
